Job Title: Facilities Manager
Reports to: Executive Director

Overview:
The Facilities Manager is in charge of maintaining buildings (Dunham Tavern Museum, Barn, Log Cabin) and
grounds in good condition to ensure the safety of guests and quality of visitor experience. This position includes
essential tasks needed weekly, monthly, or seasonally, and special events as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Housekeeping and Grounds Maintenance
      1. Clean (including emptying trash) public spaces, exhibit areas, outdoor areas, restrooms, kitchens,
        and office areas.
      2. Keep property free of litter and debris, sweep or shovel walks and stoops depending on season.
      3. Set-up for private rentals and events in the Barn. Breakdown tables and chairs and clean Barn
        after events.
  • Follow and Update DTM Maintenance Manual
        1. See that regular maintenance tasks are performed (annually, semi-annually, monthly). Coordinate and schedule maintenance calls with outside contractors (HVAC, fire system, etc.).
        2. Inspect buildings/structures and make recommendations to Executive Director for repairs or renovation.
        3. Perform regular in-house maintenance duties (changing light bulbs, furnace filters, etc).
  • Museum and Private Event Security
        1. Open the Museum and be on-site during the hours DTM is open to the public for tours.
        2. Open the Barn and be on-site for security and assistance during private event rentals.

Requirements:

  1. Position includes physical activities such as setting up and moving furniture, therefore applicant must be
    in good physical condition.
  2. Basic knowledge of cleaning in a public environment; knowledge of cleaning in a museum a plus.
  3. Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
  4. Ability to take direction from a supervisor and then assess and prioritize tasks.
  5. Communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with staff, volunteers, and museum visitors.
  6. Attention to detail as related to cleanliness and maintenance.
  7. Ability to understand and work within the special needs and requirements of a museum environment.

Minimum Employment Standards:

  • Applicant must be able to bend, reach, stoop and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Applicant must be able to carry loads up and down stairs.

Status: Part-time, non-exempt. Weekends and some nights required. Compensation: $15.00 per hour
